Abstract

The high demand for public transportation in the city of Manado has resulted in high production of MPU-type transportation operating. This causes chaos that occurs in almost every road section traversed by public transport routes and drivers who are no longer service oriented to service users. One of the government's tasks is to provide good, reliable, and affordable public transportation system services for all people, as stated in Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation. The purpose of this study is to assist the Manado City Government in meeting the objectives of the implementation of public transportation and the policy plan for replacing MPU-type urban transportation into large-capacity transportation. The data used are primary data obtained based on field observations and secondary data obtained from relevant agencies. Based on the results of the analysis, the actual demand for public transportation in Manado City is 32,842 people/day trips and the potential demand for public transportation is 45,194 trips people/day. The mass transit bus rapid transit service in Manado City serves 4 corridors with medium bus types with a capacity of 30 passengers, with fleet needs adjusted to the number of requests and TPB needs adjusted to passenger pockets and land use of each corridor. The tariff to be charged for each corridor ranges from Rp. 3,000 to Rp. 7,000.
