Abstract

Trains in West Sumatra are divided into 2 types, namely trains for transporting people (passengers) and trains for transporting goods. Passenger trains that operate across the West Sumatran line are the Sibinuang Train, the Minangkabau Express Train, and the Anai Valley Train. Meanwhile, the freight train that operates across the West Sumatran line is the Karang Putiah Train. Sibinuang Train has a high potential for increasing occupancy. After the end of the Lebaran Transportation period, the Sibinuang Railway passengers did not experience a drastic decline. On holidays, the number of passengers is overloaded, so additional trains are needed to meet passenger needs. Based on the analysis of the survey carried out on May 23 s.d. May 29, 2022, it is known that passenger occupancy increases on Saturday and Sunday to exceed 100%. This condition causes passenger overload. Based on the number of overloaded passengers and the forecast of the number of passengers in the next 5 years, which will increase, the addition of the Sibinuang Railway Stamformation is needed to meet the demand for passenger needs. Based on the analysis of secondary data on the condition of the train ready for operation, it is known that there are 13 K3 that can be operated and 5 K3 that are on the reserve train that can be operated as an addition to the formation of the Sibinuang Train. Based on the calculation of locomotive attractiveness, the addition of stamformations on the Sibinuang Train can be done without having to replace locomotives or increase the number of locomotives to pull the train.
