Abstract

Klaten-Yogya Highway is a national road that connects the Special Region of Yogyakarta with Klaten city. Klaten-Yogya Highway is a 10.7 KM road with type 4/2 D. There are many accidents on the Klaten-Yogya Highway. Based on data from the Klaten District Police, in 2020, there have been 84 cases of accidents. The behaviour of road users who drive at high speeds above 60 Km / h is suspected to be the main factor in the cause of the accident. The purpose of this study is to provide recommendations for handling problems that can be applied to improve traffic safety at accident-prone locations on the Klaten-Yogya Highway Section Km 3 and Km 8. Observation of the speed of the driver driving and observation of the existing conditions of accident-prone locations. The methods used are the calculation of the speed of the 85th percentile, the analysis of aspects of the road safety and the chronology of the accident incident at the point of the accident-prone location to find out the potentials that are the causative factors for the accident. From the results of observations and analysis that have been done, so that it can be recommended repair and arrangement of existing road equipment facilities that include being blocked by trees or in damaged condition, installation of speed limit signs, installation of pedalling tape in the form of rumble strips, closing median openings and planning of people crossing facilities.
