Abstract

Rural transportation in Karangasem Regency has several problems including low vehicle frequency, low loading factor and cannot reach the standard, long average headway, long waiting times, and widespread ownership of private vehicles causing people to prefer to use private vehicles. because it is more flexible. In this study using an analysis of existing conditions, namely conducting direct observations in the Karangasem Regency area to determine the existing conditions of rural transportation service performance, analysis of the number offleets supply and demand of rural transportation in Karangasem Regency, analysis of the number of fleet needs, analysis of calculating operating costs for rural transport vehicles in Karangasem Regency. Karangasem Regency. Based on the analysis of the existing condition of rural transportation service performance in Karangasem Regency, it was found that rural transportation is still not operating properly. The proposal for this research is to apply the results of the calculation of the number of fleets to improve the performance of rural transportation services in Karangasem Regency. Improving the quality of service performance in terms of passengers and operators requires scheduling in the operation of vehicles and implementing asystem rolling that aims to operate the entire fleet in existing conditions but by adjusting the number of operating fleets per day according to needs.
