Abstract

Soekarno-Hatta Road is a primary arterial road that is one of the main roads for people to move in and out of Bandung. Soekarno-Hatta Road is between Gedebage Intersection and Samsat Intersection which has a saturation degree of 08 and an average speed below 40 km/h. With a segment length of 5.71 there are 3 median opening points that must accommodate access along the segment causing high delays and queues as well as traffic conflicts on non-medians whose arrangement is not appropriate. The purpose of this study is to improve traffic performance on Soekarno-Hatta Road between Gedebage Intersection and Samsat Intersection with the existence of the U-turn facility. In this research, the analysis method used is road section performance analysis and modeling analysis using Vissim Software. There are 2 proposals used in this study, first proposal is the closure of fast lane access to the slow lane at U-turn facilities 2 and 3, second proposal is the closure of fast lane access to the slow lane at the U-turn facility, the relocation of U-turn facility 2 250 m to the west, and the addition of a U-turn facility situated in front of SENBIK. The proposals were then compared with the existing situation and with each other. Based on the comparison results, the best proposal is proposal 2 with road network performance, namely average delay decreased to 107.98 sec/vehicle, network speed increased to 27.94 km/h, total travel distance to 120,093.61 vehicle-km and total travel time to 4,298.41 vehicle-hours.
