Abstract

This research aims to plan a freight transportation terminal in Palangka Raya City to support gardening and trading activities. Due to the potential for produce, industry, and tourism, this terminal is necessary to overcome the problem of freight transportation stopping on the shoulder of the road, endangering road users, and causing congestion. The research uses existing freight transportation routes in Palangka Raya City and Composite Performance Index (CPI) analysis as well as Chi-Square validation, with on-street parking data, distribution of freight transportation movements, administrative maps, road network maps, and land use maps. The results of the study show alternative locations and terminal layouts in Palangka Raya City with the criteria of road section performance, accessibility, environmental sustainability, and initial investment costs. The 2nd alternative location on the Palangka Raya City Outer Ring Road was chosen for the construction of the terminal. The research suggests that the government adjust facilities according to the needs of the community in the future. Because there is no cross-freight network in Palangka Raya City, the next researcher is expected to display the network data.
