Abstract

In general, traffic accidents are caused by several factors such as road users who do not obey traffic rules or the inability of road users to use vehicles that are driven at speeds that have exceeded the set speed and the negligence of road users that can cause accidents, road infrastructure factors such as undulating road geometric conditions, suboptimal signs and lighting, and environmental factors such as slippery roads and so on. Referring to accident data from the Bekasi regency resort police traffic unit in the last 5 years (2018-2022), accidents on the Gatot Subroto road section recorded 124 traffic accidents resulting in 54 deaths, 61 serious injuries and 90 minor injuries. The potential for accidents is due to vehicles entering and exiting pillar roads or straight roads at high speeds (average >62.7 km/h) so that if you are not careful, you will be very prone to accidents and accidents occur due to bumpy road conditions and suboptimal infrastructure so as to increase the risk of accidents. The analysis methods used in this study are Accident Prone Area Analysis, Accident Characteristics Analysis, Accident Chronology Analysis, Road Inventory Analysis and HIRADC Analysis and Roadside Hazards. Based on the results of data analysis, the recommendations in the effort to improve traffic safety on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Bekasi Regency are in the form of proposing safe road designs, road geometric designs, roadside hazard control management and management.
