Abstract

Padang Train Depot is a place to store and maintain train facilities in Divre II West Sumatra. One of the facilities stored and maintained is the Class III Generator Dining Cart (KMP3). Every type of facility in Divre II West Sumatra starting February 1, 2023 has used Biosolar (B35) fuel. Biosolar (B35) is a mixed fuel between diesel oil and vegetable fat. The existence of this composition mixture has an impact on the performance of generators in KMP3 such as faster maintenance cycles, more fuel consumption, and additional maintenance costs due to additional spare parts. The purpose of this research is to analyze fuel consumption conditions with different types of fuel, identify the use of Biodiesel (B35) which has an impact on changes in the maintenance cycle, and identify the use of Biodiesel (B35) which makes spare parts and maintenance costs that must be added. This research method is by conducting interviews with related parties in this case technicians at Padang Train Depot, following maintenance activities from KMP3, as well as by the literacy method with related journals. From the research conducted, the fuel consumption of Biodiesel (B35) was 191, 91 liters, a difference of 13, 26 liters compared to Pure Solar (B0). The use of mixed fuel with vegetable oil also results in sediment in the fuel tank so that it must be cleaned quickly, this results in the Biosolar maintenance cycle starting from 150 hours while Pure Solar is 300 hours. Biosolar (B35) also makes the existence of spare parts that must be added, namely the Racor Filter, this certainly has an impact on the additional maintenance costs to replace the Racor Filter.
