Abstract

In the school area, there will be no transportation activities in the form of traveling using your own vehicle or picking up students at the time of their departure and return. If traffic engineering is not managed well, it will cause congestion on the road which will cause discomfort for road users. and the community around the school and increase the risk of accidents. Accident data in Pasaman Regency in 2022 contained 146 accidents with a total of 254 victims, 98 of the accident victims were students and 52 of the perpetrators who caused the accidents were students. The initial analysis was carried out by identifying student travel, travel support facilities, and describing the design of the Education Area with the concept of Safe Routes to Safe Schools (RASS). Based on the analysis carried out in the study area, the road sections that students can pass when going to and from school are grouped into 4 routes which are equipped with pedestrian facilities in the form of sidewalks with a minimum standard of 1.85m, road crossing facilities in the form of zebra crossings, bicycle lane/lane facilities according to applicable standards with a total width of 1.44m, bicycle parking facilities, as well as pickup point/dropzone facilities provided at each school. The Regional Government of Pasaman Regency can use the results of analysis from research to plan safe school safe routes (RASS) as a consideration for implementing safe school safe routes (RASS) in the future as safe and secure areas for students so as to reduce the number of accidents involving students.
