Abstract

Borobudur District is famous for the Borobudur Temple and its beautiful naturalattractions. One of the attractions is the existence of the Volkswagen (VW) Safari car, which has become a tourist icon and a favorite mode of transportation fortourists. However, the existence of the VW Safari also poses several potential safety risks, such as the potential for accidents, traffic jams, vehicle queues andair pollution. On the other hand, the legality of the VW Safari car also needs to beconsidered. "SAFETY AND LEGALITY STUDY OF THE EXISTENCE OF VOLKSWAGEN (VW) SAFA RI CARS IN THE BOROBUDUR AREA" aims to analyze the VWSafari mode in the Borobudur Area based on SWOT analysis and comparison with safety and legality standards. The analysis results show that the VW Safari mode still does not comply with safety and legal standards and needs to change its strategy. The proposed solution is to build drop points or stopover points on roadsin the city of Borobudur 1 and 2 which are equipped with bus stop facilities and additional facilities for drivers to increase the safety and legality of the VW Safari mode. The results of the analysis show that the construction of drop points willincrease traffic volume on both roads, but the level of service on the Inner City ofBorobudur 1 road remains LOS A and the Inner City of Borobudur 2 road becomes LOS B. The analysis results show that the VW Safari has great potential to be developed as a tourist transport in Borobudur. The author also provides several suggestions for developing VW Safari tourist transportation in Borobudur, namely: providinglegality, safety campaigns, and developing facilities. The development of VW Safaritourist transportation is expected to increase tourism potential in Borobudur, Magelang Regency, as well as improve the welfare of the surrounding community.
