Abstract
The high level of private vehicle use in Probolinggo City is due to the fact that public transportation is not considered convenient enough. Based on home interview survey data, the use of private vehicles is very high (72%) compared to public transportation (5%). Only 9 out of 11 public transportation routes according to regulations operate in Probolinggo City with a loadfactor of 14%. Public considerations in the selection of transportation modes with constraints and ease of use of public transport have an influence on mode selection. This study aims to determine the character of private and public transport modal split in Probolinggo City in aggregate. The data analysis method is carried out in aggregate using three modal split analysis models, there are the direct generation model, the trip end model and the trip interchange model. The analysis of the direct generation model shows that population density is an important factor affecting transit use in a region. The higher the population density, the greater the demand and use of public transport but there are other factors that can affect the level of public transport use such as ownership of private vehicles in the household. The analysis of the trip end model is carried out after the total trip production is generated which is then grouped into public transport and private transport modes. The value of the urban travel factor (UTF) of zone 1 was found to be 0.04 so that to estimate the value of transit mode selection, the modal splitcurve was generally used, and the result was 1%. The travel interchange model can be used to estimate the mode choice. From the analysis conducted, it was found that the choice of travel mode between zone 2 and zone 4 by public transport was 18.63% and by private vehicle was 81.37%. Keywords: Modal Split, Trip Generation Model, Trip End Model, Trip Interchange Model.
