Abstract
The Kepanjen-Kendalpayak road section is a primary collector road that is one of the alternative roads as well as a connecting road between Malang City and Malang Regency which is dominated by industrial and educational land use types. The mixture of industrial and educational development on this road section increases the distribution of high trips, especially in the morning and afternoon due to vehicles moving and arriving at the same time. The majority of students and industrial employees use private vehicles, which affects the volume of traffic. Not only is the proportion of private vehicles high but the proportion of freight transport is also high. Increased vehicle use in this industrial and educational development area has an impact on existing road infrastructure, increased traffic loads, and higher accident risks so that strategies are needed in determining and recommending traffic engineering policies to optimize traffic performance. Problem solving in this study uses the methods of road section performance analysis, intersection performance analysis, pedestrian analysis, parking analysis, and microsimulation analysis using PTV Vissim. This analysis is carried out by utilizing primary data obtained through direct observation in the field and secondary data taken from related agencies. Microsimulation analysis using PTV Vissim will produce outputs based on the scenarios created. The network performance obtained after handling has an average delay of 18.96 veh/sec, network speed of 31.14 km/hour, total travel distance of 9253.27 veh-km, and a total travel time of 297.20 veh-hours. Recommendations for handling are road widening, parking arrangements, relocation of street vendors, limiting the operating hours of heavy vehicles, adding crossing facilities for pedestrians, and adding traffic signs.
