Abstract

There are 5 schools in the Study Area region with a total of 3674 students. Many of these students walk or bike to school, but currently, they lack safe routes to and from school. The existing conditions in the area do not provide dedicated pedestrian and/or cycling paths, which poses risks to the students. Support facilities are also needed such as School Safety Zones (ZoSS), markings, signs, and drop zones. However, the existing support facilities are inadequate, which reduces students' interest in walking and cycling. Based on the criteria for determining the RASS area, researchers selected five schools as the research objects: SMA Negeri 1 Sutojayan, SMP Negeri 1 Sutojayan, SMP Negeri 2 Sutojayan, MTs Miftaahul Ulum, and SD Negeri 01 Kalipang. Efforts to ensure student safety include improving necessary safety facilities. In implementing the RASS area, pedestrian routes will be provided along Jalan Raya Barat, Jalan Diponegoro, and Jalan Raya Utara Lodoyo. Cycling routes will originate from segments of Jalan Raya Barat, Jalan Diponegoro, Jalan Raya Utara Lodoyo, Jalan Letjen Witarman, and Jalan Banteng Blorok. Pedestrian facilities will have a width of 1.5 meters along the roads and will include Zebra Cross crossings. Cycling facilities will consist of dedicated bike lanes with widths of 1.3 meters on Jalan Raya Barat and 1.2 meters on Jalan Diponegoro, type C, which means the cycling lanes will be within the road body with marked separators. ZoSS will be implemented on Jalan Raya Barat and Jalan Diponegoro. Drop zone/pick-up point signs will be provided in front of the gates of each school: SMA N 1 Sutojayan, SMP N 1 Sutojayan, SMP N 2 Sutojayan, MTs Miftaahul Ulum, and SD N 01 Kalipang.
