Abstract
The development of the Greater Malang area due to the growth and density of the city resulted in the urban sprawl, which then formed a new sub-sub-center that caused movement with the characteristics of long-distance travel patterns and high mobility among the sub-sub-regions of Malang Raya (Malang Regency, Batu City, and Malang City). Movement that is not properly accommodated due to the inadequate state of existing public transportation makes people rely more on private vehicles to move. Therefore, to overcome this problem, new public transportation services are needed to improve public accessibility in using public transportation, by providing reliable public transportation, having facilities according to standards, and integrated in the Greater Malang area. The purpose of this study is to plan BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) as a new public transportation in Malang Raya using the Trip Assignment method, so that it can identify passenger demand, which can later produce the output of proposed service routes, the number and type of fleet, efficient operational performance, and operational costs as well as the determination of appropriate fares. The results of the study show that the potential demand generated is 107,294 trip per day and the actual demand is 12,404 passengers per day. With the output of 3 proposed routes, namely corridor I (Kota – Kepanjen) with a demand of 30,478 trip/day, a route length of 21.7 Km, with the need for 18 medium bus fleets, and a 7-minute headway, Corridor II (Malang City – Lawang) with a demand of 43,139 trip/day, a route length of 22 Km, with the need for 27 medium bus fleets, and a 5-minute headway, and Corridor 3 (Malang City – Batu city) with a demand of 33,264 trip/day, The route length is 21.9 Km, with the need for 20 medium bus fleets, headway 6 minutes. Then the overall average BOK is IDR 17,244, Ability to pay is IDR 10,353, and Willingness Willingness to pay is worth IDR 8,104, resulting in an operational tariff with a flat system in the three corridors worth IDR 8,000.
