Abstract

Coal transportation in South Sumatra is one of the main sources of income for PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero). The Tanjung Karang Division IV region has large coal transportation potential. The large potential in coal transportation has encouraged PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) to collaborate with various companies, including PT Bukit Asam and other private companies. For coal used in the Tanjung Karang Division IV area, one of them uses a CC 205 locomotive with various formations. This locomotive is utilized optimally to support coal transportation every year, namely by maximizing the locomotive's attractiveness. The operation of a locomotive must pay attention to its pulling power on the highest grade in the Tanjung Karang Division IV area, so that it can be known how many carriages can be pulled at a certain speed. In this way, the operation of the locomotive can be optimized based on the weight of the train being pulled so that it is more effective.
