Abstract

Highway Gatot Subroto is one of the accident-prone locations in Binjai City. Highway Gatot Subroto is a Provoncial road that crosses the Binjai City area, this road connects Langkat Regency with Binjai City. Highway Gatot Subroto along 5,3 Km and asphalt pavement. In 2022 on Highway Gatot Subroto Segment 4 are locations where traffic accidents often occur. The road condition on this road is a straight road, so many motorist are encouraged to drive at high speed. Based on data from the Binjai City Police in 2022, there have been 8 accident cases. The behavior of road users who drive disorderly is the main factor causing accidents. The purpose of this research is to provide recommendations for handling problems that canbe applied to improve traffic safety at accident-prone locations on the Highway Gatot Subroto Segment 4. Observations were made on the driving speed of drivers and observations on the existing conditions of accident-prone locations. The method used is the calculation of the 85th percentile speed, analysis of aspects of safe roads and analysis of the chronology of accidents at accident-prone locations to determine the potential factors that cause accidents. From the results of observations and analyzes that have been carried out so that it can be recommended for repairs and arrangement of road equipment facilities.
