Abstract

Currently, coal is one of the natural resources used as the primary fuel in steam power plants. PT. Bukit Asam is one of the companies that conduct massive coal mining operations in the Tanjung Enim area and distributes it to Lampung to be processed as fuel for steam power plants. The distribution of coal in large quantities over long distances requires effective and efficient transportation. Therefore, PT. Bukit Asam collaborates with PT. Kereta Api Indonesia to use railway services, specifically the Baratarahan Train. With the increasing demand for coal transportation, it poses a challenge for PT. Kereta Api Indonesia as the service provider to meet the significantly rising coal transport demand. Hence, a study was conducted to find ways to maximize the performance of the Baratarahan Train by identifying the availability of circulating facilities, understanding the traction force of locomotive CC 202 and CC 205, and efforts to increase coal transport capacity. This study reveals the availability of facilities used to carry the Baratarahan Train, the train's ability to carry coal loads, and efforts to optimize the operation of facilities to meet and even exceed transport targets.
