Abstract

The construction of the baan body at the South Sulawesi Railway Management Center, precisely the Mandai - Palanro crossing at km 68+200 - km 68+700 along 500 m, was delayed. due to poor soil conditions. From the results of the research and visual identification, the soil in that location is silt or soft clay. Silt soil consists of small grains so that the mechanical properties are poor and unable to carry the load of the embankment above, while for shear forces on silt soils usually have relatively small shear forces. If the load exceeds the critical bearing capacity, a decrease will occur. In addition, the condition of the plains is quite low so that when it rains the water can stagnate. Unfavorable soil conditions can cause subsidence and a decrease in the body of the railroad when passing by rail facilities, so that the soil requires improvement of the subgrade structure. To improve the structure of the subgrade at that location, it is necessary to strengthen the soil using dolkens along 6 m with a diameter of 10 cm which are spaced 30 cm from one dolken to another, then piled up using limestone so that the chemicals in the limestone can be mixed. with subgrade so as to increase the bearing capacity of the soil, and covered with geotextile as a separator so that the pile below does not mix with the next pile, finally sprinkled with sand as reinforcement on the foundation above. So that the red soil heap process can be continued
