Abstract

Abstract The high number of traffic accidents that often occur can be caused by facilities and infrastructure that do not meet the safety standard criteria, for example roads that have been damaged or roads with potholes which can cause vehicles to lose balance when passing through potholes. One of the inadequate facilities is located on Jalan Veteran in Lamongan Regency. This road is an area of education, shops, and schools that have quite a lot of traffic so that the population density and the number of vehicles parked have resulted in the potential for traffic accidents. This study intends to analyze the needs of RASS facilities for students and aims to plan a safe educational area in accordance with the RASS concept based on the results of the identification of the condition of safety and traffic security facilities. The method used in this study is the approach method, namely by collecting data from secondary data to primary data which is then discussed on the theoretical basis in the review of determining school safe zones and road equipment. From the results of data collection and analysis, it can be concluded that the Veteran Street section has a V/C ratio of 0.29 for the exit and entry directions, which means that the density is quite high and can affect pedestrians, especially students. The results of the MCO survey show that the vehicle speed level when entering the school area is 24.97 km/hour for the entry direction and 24.55 km/hour for the exit direction so that a school area management facility (ZoSS) is needed such as installing signs and noise bands to improve behavior motorists in reducing speed in the school area on the Jalan Veteran section.
