Abstract

Karangasem Regency is one of the 9 regencies/cities in Bali Province. Karangasem Regency has an area of 839.54 km2. Karangasem Regency has several Junction, Junction is a place where traffic flows from several directions. The confluence of flows that have different characteristics can cause congestion and traffic accidents, such as at the Simpang Empat Catur Muka, The Junction already have apill but have not worked optimally, so it is necessary to juction optimization. To measure the appropriate type of control at the Junction in this study using the analysis of 1997 Indonesian Road Capacity Manual (MKJI-1997). The analysis carried out is an analysis of the capacity of the Juction, the degree of saturation, queue length, delay and junction control in the existing condition. From the analysis of the existing conditions, the performance of the junction will be improved by providing several offers such as changes in cycle time, phase, and geometry at the junction and comparing the conditions with the supply conditions. And then to improve junction performance can by selecting the best option and planning on peak and off peak junction cycle times for maximum junction performance.
