Abstract

This study focuses on the importance of implementing Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in the Bekasi Timur Station area. With 406,446 commuters in Bekasi City and 32,895 in Bekasi Timur District, the majority use private transportation, leading to congestion. The Bekasi City Government plans to develop vertical housing and rejuvenate slum housing around Bekasi Timur Station to reduce private vehicle usage and increase public transportation usage. The objectives of this study are to understand the public's interest in using public transportation, identify the characteristics of the Bekasi Timur Station area, and formulate development priorities based on TOD criteria. The research methods include analyzing existing characteristics, suitability levels, and development directions of the Bekasi Timur Station area based on TOD criteria. The study results show the area's characteristics, suitability levels, and necessary development directions to improve transportation safety and convenience in this area. Pasar 10 Ulu is one of the traditional markets located in the city of Palembang. The existence of economic and trade activities in the 10 Ulu Market Area triggers traffic problems. The low performance of the road section in the 10 Ulu Market Area requires the handling of traffic arrangements for traffic performance. The analysis methods used in this research are road network performance analysis, parking analysis, and pedestrian analysis. The analysis is conducted using secondary data obtained from relevant institutions, journals, or related guidelines, and primary data collected from the location. The analysis of the existing road network performance and the proposed handling were carried out with the help of the vissim transportation application, with parameters in the form of average delay, road network speed, total distance, and total travel time. Based on the analysis, proposed handling includes moving on-street parking to off-street parking, providing pedestrian facilities, controlling street vendors, and implementing operating hours for loading and unloading goods. With the implementation of these proposed handlings, there has been an improvement in the performance of the road network, with an average delay of 3.72 vehicle/second, a network speed of 33.19 km/h, a total distance of 4546.77 vehicle/km, and a total travel time of 137.34 vehicle/hour.
