Abstract

There are 4 schools within the education zone on Mulawarman Street, Banjarmasin City, with a total of 4961 students. The safety facilities for pedestrians, cyclists, and traffic signs are inadequate, leading to accidents on Mulawarman Street. The aim of this research is to develop an educational facility with a Safe School Route (RASS) concept as outlined in Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 16 of 2016. This involves providing access for students to walk, cycle, or use public transportation to get to school. The research conducted is quantitative, using primary data collection methods such as road segment inventory surveys, student interview surveys, and pedestrian surveys. The analysis method includes determining safe school route areas, analyzing the characteristics of student travel patterns, identifying travel routes, analyzing travel needs, analyzing public transportation/school transportation, and designing safe school route plans.Based on the research results, it was found that the highest mode of transportation used within the education zone is walking, with a percentage of 35%. To meet the needs of pedestrian facilities for students, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings such as Zebra Crossings and ZoSS are planned. For the RASS cyclist scheme, bicycle routes are determined, and for public transportation, the identification of routes passing through the students' origin zones to determining bus stops is essential.
