Abstract

Malang - Pakisaji route is a route under the auspices of DAOP 8 Surabaya which has a traffic length of 11,221 Km'sp depending on KM 49+234 – 60+455 which crosses 3 stations namely Malang Station, Malang Kotalama Station and Pakisaji Station which covers the working area of Resort 8.17 Malang. Condition of the railway components on the Malang - Pakisaji route found several damages and deficiencies in railway Components such as deformed rails, damaged bearings, missing moorings, insufficient ballast volume, and mud pumping. This condition of damage can cause risks to train travel, so further handling of rail damage needs to be done in order to create a safe and comfortable journey. This research uses the method of identifying damage to railroad components, risks and handling of damage to railroad components, calculating the need for damaged or deficient railroad components, and analyzing the needs for human resources and maintenance equipment at Resort 8.17 Malang. From the results of the analysis that has been carried out, it was found that damage to railway components includes defective rails, damaged bearings, missing moorings, insufficient ballast volume, and mud pumping which can cause risks to train travel such as derailments. To meet the shortage of railroad components, 66 sleepers, 154 anchors and a ballast volume of 1,347 m³ are needed. Based on the analysis of human resources and maintenance equipment at Resort 8.17 Malang, there is still damage and deficiencies, therefore it is necessary to add additional human resources and maintenance equipment for optimal maintenance and upkeep of the railway on the Malang - Pakisaji route.
