Abstract

A freight train is a type of train used to transport goods, liquids such as fuel oil, and mined products such as sand, stone, coal, and minerals. To ensure the safety of freight trains during their journey, it is crucial to pay attention to the completeness of the components that support safety throughout the trip. An inspection of the wagons in Daop 1 revealed non-compliance with technical requirements related to the braking equipment on the wagons. The analysis of the wagon's condition was conducted to determine the suitability of the actual condition with the ideal condition according to the technical specifications standards of the wagon. The effectiveness was analyzed by determining the percentage of brake block pressure and the braking percentage according to UIC standards. A simulation of the braking distance on the wagon was carried out regarding the use of the empty load device. The comparison of the impact of using the empty load device was analyzed. The inspection of braking and safety equipment items on the wagon during daily and schowing inspections ensures its roadworthiness and operational readiness. The analysis results show that many wagons are not equipped with an empty load device. The effectiveness and impact indicate that wagons using the empty load device are more effective and have a positive impact on the reliability of the equipment. During daily and schowing inspections, the empty load device needs to be included in the inspection.
